GlobeShift has a dream: to unify voices around the world in meditations and prayers for peace. “Global Om 108,” this special event is being called (#GO108). September 21, 2012. One hundred and eight Om chant gatherings in Washington, D.C., New York, Los Angeles, Virginia, West Virginia, India and around the world. Commemorating the International Day of Peace.

Washington, DC, September 15, 2012 --(PR.com)-- GlobeShift (www.globeshift.com), a company that takes the concept of unity of spirit and brings them concretely into the world of human experience through the development of technology software products, is working to produce a quantifiable quantum shift in the world on September 21, 2012, the International Day of Peace. Building on research that shows that conscious awareness changes reality, GlobeShift is putting out a call for 108 Om chant gatherings to take place around the world. Thus far, there are gatherings scheduled for Washington, D.C., New York, Los Angeles, Virginia, West Virginia and India. Others are being planned.

“Just imagine what the world would be like if millions of people worldwide were meditating and praying the Om energetic chant on that day,” says Limor Schafman, founder and CEO of GlobeShift.

“For decades people have been observing what is called the ‘Maharishi Effect,’ that 1% of an area’s population meditating and focusing on peaceful prayer can measurably reduce anger, violence and warfare taking place in that region. We’re hoping that Global Om 108 will inspire millions of people to focus on being in peace, and thus affect the change we seek on September 21,” continues Limor.

Initiated by the United Nations in 1981, the International Day of Peace is “devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples,” according to the Peace Day website (http://www.internationaldayofpeace.org/). This year’s theme is “Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future.”

“We chose the day because the International Day of Peace is a great central focusing time and it is on the eve of the Autumnal Equinox,” says Limor. “We are seeking people, groups, organizations that want to create their own Global Om 108 events or affiliate with us for this unifying effort.”

GlobeShift chose the target of 108 Om chant gatherings is based on the energetic, religious, scientific, mathematical and cultural surrounding these two elements.

Om is said to be the primordial sound of the life force itself. Pronounced more as “aum,” the toning of it activates particular chakras from the body base on through the top of the head, activating, unifying and connecting a person’s energy within themselves and to the larger force of life of creation itself. The Om chant is considered to be a chant of life, bringing together and healing for those who do the chant and for the environment around them.

“And I have to say, having Om-ed quite a bit in ongoing rolling Oms, the effect of calm, centeredness and presence is quite profound,” Limor says.

108 is a very interesting number both metaphysically and mathematically. Religiously for the Buddhists, Hindus and others, 108 is said to refer to the one unity (1), the emptiness of nothing (0) and the infinity of all (8). A strand of Tibetan Buddhist prayer beads, called a “mala,” consists of 108 beads. According to biblical numerology, 108 is six times the number of letters of “Chai” (18) which means “Life” in Hebrew. Mathematically, 108 is a hyperfactoral of three, a Tetranacci number, a Harshad number, and a Self number, and it also results in the Golden Ratio. For astrologists, 108 is the distance from the Moon to the Earth, divided by the diameter of the Moon, and the distance of the Sun from the Earth divided by the diameter of the Sun, in kilometers, and it is 20 times the diameter of the Moon in miles.

“When I put myself in that moment and time when millions of people around the world are being in peace as they meditate and pray, I feel the earth adjust itself to a healthier alignment of self-sustainability. This is what we are seeking to create. And we hope people around the world will join us,” concludes Limor.
