iCEV Advocates Awareness Toward Food-Borne Illness

Lubbock, TX, September 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- CEV Multimedia, Ltd. recently released the newest addition to their “Hot Topic” video series titled Fruits, Vegetables & Salmonella. The online video segment provides insight into food safety from the preventative practices performed by American fruit and vegetable producers to suggested precautions for the consumer.

The educational segment follows food sanitation from field to home by providing a demonstration of proper cantaloupe serving techniques, as well as a discussion on industry safety issues and procedures led by international food safety Ph.D. candidate at Texas Tech University, Ansen Pond. He said the strongest line of defense against foodborne illness is a well-educated consumer practicing food safety at home.

“Everyday millions of dollars are spent within the food industry to increase safety in food products,” Pond said, “but all of that effort is wasted if consumers and food handlers are unaware of the basics of food safety.”

Fruits, Vegetables & Salmonella also features Ralph Treadway, a food safety manager, who explains the provisions and challenges a producer faces in the field including: cross contamination, crop monitoring methods and in-field packaging.

The segment is one of many titles within iCEV’s “Hot Topic” series, allowing subscribers a reputable way of staying up-to-date with the latest industry news by covering topics such as lean, finely textured beef, bovine spongiform encephalopathy and the effects of the recent drought.

Clayton Franklin, Vice President of Brand Management at CEV Multimedia, Ltd., said it is the company’s goal to become an unbiased resource for industry news explained by credible sources in every sector of the agricultural industry.

The Fruits, Vegetables & Salmonella, along with several other educational videos, are also featured in iCEV’s weekly newsletter, which is distributed to all iCEV subscribers.
