"An Evening at Tribeca Rooftop" to Benefit Critically-Ill Children

Manhattan skyline is the backdrop for Friends of Karen's gala fundraiser, which will honor Beth Leventhal and First Data Corp., and benefits children with cancer or another life-threatening illness.

Purdys, NY, September 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- An elegant setting with a panoramic view of Manhattan and beyond is the stage for Friends of Karen’s gala benefit, “An Evening at Tribeca Rooftop.” The event takes place on Tuesday, October 2, at Tribeca Rooftop, 2 Desbrosses Street in Manhattan. Honorees include Beth Leventhal, who joined the Friends of Karen Board of Directors in 1993 and served as its president for five years, and First Data Corporation, a long-time community partner whose commitment to the organization has raised awareness as well as gifts.

Steven Maglio, featured at famed NYC venue The Carnegie Club, will croon “Songs for Sinatra Lovers.” The evening’s MC is Stephen Fanuka, host of HGTV and DIY Network’s “Million Dollar Contractor.”

“When your child gets a devastating diagnosis, Friends of Karen makes sure that you don’t have to go it alone,” says Ms. Leventhal, an educator and philanthropist from Chappaqua, NY. “I can’t think of another organization that achieves so much for families in crisis. While you’re using every ounce of strength to help your child battle for her life, Friends of Karen provides the supports to keep the rest of your life going.”

Friends of Karen provides emotional, financial and advocacy support to families with a child diagnosed with cancer or another life-threatening illness. Since 1978 Friends of Karen has touched the lives of more than 11,800 children in the New York Tri-State region. With compassion, dedication and expertise, Friends of Karen helps sustain the entire family during an overwhelmingly frightening time.
