Patrick Buick GMC Celebrates Virginia History Through Sponsorship of Field Day of the Past

Field Day of the Past is an annual celebration of Virginia traditions and culture, and this year Patrick Buick GMC of Ashland is proud to be a sponsor of the event.

Ashland, VA, September 21, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Field day of the past is an annual family event hosted by the Rockville-Centerville Steam and Gas Historical Association. The three-day celebration attracts 35,000 people each year. This year the event will be held September 20-23, and Patrick Buick GMC will be a proud sponsor.

Field Day of the Past gives a glimpse into the lifestyle of the people in early, rural Virginia in an atmosphere of hometown county fairs. The event features museum-quality historical displays and exhibits, including demonstrations using antique and modern construction equipment, historical re-enactments, and tractor, truck and lawnmower pulls.

Event volunteers allow visitors to experience the lost arts of wheat and peanut threshing, canning, saw milling, meat smoking, and other routines of life in early Virginia. There are also arts and crafts, a flea market, and ongoing heritage craft demonstrations throughout the weekend.

Visitors can also enjoy permanent exhibits, including a 1930’s grocery store and garage, blacksmith shop, working U.S. post office, gold mining equipment, Pullman railroad car and engine buildings. New attractions and events are added every year, helping the festival grow from its first attendance of 5,000 guests to the huge crowds who attend today.

Other fun and interesting activities at this year’s Field Day of the Past include rodeo and equestrian events, Robinson’s Racing Pigs, chainsaw carving, and karaoke and music performances on the sound stage. Delicious food choices are available from more than a dozen vendors. There is also a children’s area and carnival rides. Children under 13 years old are admitted without free, but rides are an additional charge. Other ticket and event information can be found on the Field Day of the Past website, www.fielddayofthepast.net.

Patrick Buick GMC is happy to help with sponsorship of such a fun, educational family event, and encourage you to attend. We will be giving away free tote bags at our booth just inside the entrance while supplies last. They hope to see you there! Follow us on Facebook to see where we'll be next.
