Local Transportation Association Offers Discount to Public Sector

Raleigh, NC, September 27, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The NC Triangle chapter of WTS International, the association for the advancement of women in the transportation industry, has just announced that public sector transportation employees can join the premiere career growth and networking organization for ½ price for one year. The membership drive, valid for the month of October 2012, was created with a dual purpose: In recognition of public sector professionals and their contribution to the industry, and to move WTS forward on its mission to bring more diverse leadership to the transportation industry.

“The economy is affecting all industries, both public and private sectors. Though budgets are tight, investments in workforce development should not be sacrificed, so we’re offering this discount in an attempt to help the public sector network and find professional development through WTS,” said Paddy Jordan, WTS NC Triangle Chapter’s President.

The Public sector includes everything from city engineers and planners to department of transportation individuals to county and village employees. As an international transportation organization, WTS strives to support, promote, and advance women in all facets of transportation. “Reaching out to our public professionals and encouraging them to join and become active members provides them the opportunity to benefit from WTS networking and professional development events, scholarship programs, and mentoring activities,” Jordan added.

The WTS International membership drive for public sector transportation employees grants a 1/2 priced membership to the association for one year for applications processed Oct. 1 through October 31, 2012. For more information, visit www.wtsinternational.org/nctriangle or email kreynolds@ncdot.gov.
