Diamond Packaging Wins Recognition in 2012 Excellence Awards Competition

Competition recognizes the highest level of printing quality and technical achievement across all packaging segments.

Rochester, NY, September 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Diamond Packaging won two awards in the 26th annual packagePRINTING Excellence Awards Competition, the industry's only competition to highlight outstanding printing achievement across the full range of packaging segments – tags and labels, flexible packaging, folding cartons, and corrugated cartons. Entries were judged on print quality, functionality, and secondary converting and finishing attributes. Of the hundreds of entries submitted in 47 different categories, Diamond's entries were among those chosen for exemplifying the highest standards in the packaging industry.

“What makes the Excellence Awards competition such a positive program is the recognition it provides for all those involved,” said Tom Polischuk, editor-in-chief, packagePRINTING magazine. “While the focus is on package printers, it also provides recognition to their customers and suppliers.”

Diamond won a first place award for Elizabeth Arden’s Sunflowers carton in the Folding Cartons – Offset category. The carton was converted utilizing Neenah Paper Sundance Ultra White Felt textured paperboard and offset printed with three PMS colors and dense black inks, in-line with UV matte and UV gloss spot coating.

The graphics were enhanced with embossed sunflower petals on the front and rear panels, and debossed text on the side panels, contributing to a unique visual and tactile presentation that stands out in the crowded retail environment.

Diamond won a third place award for its 2012 Calendar in the Specialty Category for Technical Achievement. Diamond's three-month corporate calendar is a long-standing company tradition, and a popular promotional item given to customers and suppliers. This year’s jukebox concept takes people back to a nostalgic era — the golden age of rock and roll, drive-in diners, and sock hops. Although popularized in the 1950s, the jukebox is sure to make people of any age smile.

The calendar illustrates many of Diamond's capabilities, including creative design, Liquid Metal™ brilliant metallic UV specialty coating, Cast and Cure holographic effects, multi-level embossing, and intricate die cutting.

Environmentally-friendly techniques (Liquid Metal™, Cast and Cure, produced with 100% wind energy) support Diamond's message of creating innovative and sustainable packaging solutions.

All Excellence Awards winners will receive national exposure in packagePRINTING magazine's annual special awards issue, and promotion through the packagePRINTING website and social media.
