Cumberland, MD, September 30, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Kia Motors America (KMA) announced earlier this week that it has partnered with HerHighway.com for its “Drive Breast Cancer Awareness”. Timbrook Kia is proud to be part of company that is willing to donate vehicles and resources to help raise awareness for a disease that has affected so many people.

"Kia is deeply committed to supporting HerHighway and the 'Drive Breast Cancer Awareness' event which delivers much-needed awareness towards a disease that affects approximately one in eight women in the United States," said Michael Sprague, executive vice president, marketing & communications, KMA. "Kia vehicles such as the Sportage, Optima and Soul are perfect vehicles for a cross-country road trip, and it is our privilege to provide these vehicles that will help HerHighway get the word out about breast cancer."

“Drive Breast Cancer Awareness” will feature an eight-day cross country trip that will begin in Los Angeles on September 25 and end in New York on October 2- the start of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The cross-country journey visit 10 cities and will feature more than 100 women, including breast cancer survivors, journalists, bloggers and ever professional drivers Shea Holbrook, Melanie Troxel and Ashley Van Dyke.

Stops will be made along the trip in which the participants will hold talks, forums, and answer questions people may have in order to spread breast cancer awareness. Among the vehicles KMA has donated are the 2013 Kia Sportage EX, 2013 Kia Soul! and the 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid.

HerHighway.com (http://www.herhighway.com/) is a site dedicated to empowering women with comprehensive automotive knowledge. The site started the “Drive Breast Cancer Awareness” campaign in 2011 when it founder and Editor-in-Chief, Christina Selter, was diagnosed with a rare form of liquid breast cancer known as ALCL.

“I want to not only create awareness of this terrible disease I want to pay homage to those that have fought and lost,” said Selter. “I found a way to combine my automotive expertise and with my concern for breast cancer awareness.”
