Freehold, NJ, July 11, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Alan Nasar, a leading orthopedic surgeon at the Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute, PC (AOSMI), has been appointed to be the new medical director of the Total Joint Center of New Jersey, which is part of the CentraState Healthcare System.

“We’re very pleased that our colleague's accomplishments have been recognized in this way," says Dr. Michael Greller, the president of AOSMI. “We always encourage our orthopedic surgeons to seize opportunities such as this to become more actively involved in the community and to continue pushing the limits of joint repalcement therapies.”

Dr. Nasar completed his medical studies at the New Jersey Medical School, and he also holds a degree in mechanical engineering. This academic preparation has allowed him to experiment with a variety of surfaces, including ceramic and metals, to find the longest-wearing joint replacement solutions. "With my background in biomaterials, I have a special understanding of the mechanisms of each implant and what will work best for each person," he says.

Dr. Nasar specializes in minimally invasive joint replacements of the hip, knee, and shoulder. His goal is always to provide the best care possible with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and rapid rehabilitation and recovery.

On June 6, Dr. Nasar led a Total Joint Center lecture, titled "Free Yourself from Knee Pain." More than 150 community members attended the free presentation to learn about innovative, non-invasive treatments for knee pain. "The lecture was a huge succes," says Nasar. "We plan to offer similar seminars in the future, to help people understand that they don't have to live with joint pain."

Additional information about Dr. Nasar's specialty and background is avalable at www.AdvancedOrthoSports.com, or by visiting one of AOSMI’s two locations at 501 Iron Bridge Road, Suite 1, or 4247 Route 9, Building 1 in Freehold.
