St. Helens, United Kingdom, October 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Hattons Solicitors recently visited Liverpool Cancer Research Centre to present a cheque of £3271.24 to Clatterbridge Cancer Research after completing a gruelling 400 mile bike ride in June.

The team were met by Dr. Ross Sibson and Bobby Magee from Clatterbridge Cancer Research and were given a talk about the work that goes on at the Centre followed by a tour around the laboratories.

Associate Solicitor David Merrills was one of the team to visit the centre and said, “We were all delighted to be invited to visit Liverpool Cancer Research Centre and present a cheque for £3271.24 to Clatterbridge Cancer Research. The visit was extremely insightful and it was great to see that the money we raised from our bike ride challenge will make a difference and help the centre carry on their vital research.”

Senior Fundraiser at Clatterbridge Cancer Research, Bobby Magee also commented “It was fantastic to see the Hatton’s staff visit the labs after all the hard work that they’d put in to raise such an amazing amount of money and see exactly where it was going. It was brilliant to see them get so involved and find out the lengthy processes involved in understanding cancer. The money raised by the cyclists will undoubtedly go towards making huge steps in Cancer Research and for that we are incredibly grateful.”

Worthy cause Clatterbridge Cancer Research has funded world-class genetic research into the causes of cancer for more than 30 years, and continually works to develop more effective, personalised treatments for the people of Merseyside and Cheshire.

This research is vital, as our region has the worst cancer mortality rates in the country; Merseyside and Cheshire is 16% higher than the national average whilst Liverpool is a staggering 37% higher than the national average.

As the charity receive no funding from the NHS, they rely entirely on their supporters to help them raise the £2million a year needed to continue their vital research.
