U.S. Air National Guard Selects CTRL’s UL101 Ultrasound Detector

The U.S. Air National Guard has selected CTRL’s UL101 to outfit all bases for all platforms. After in-depth testing by the Air National Guard beginning in 2009, the UL101 will be fielded for use on both fixed wing and rotary platforms.

Westminster, MD, October 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The U.S. Air National Guard has selected CTRL’s UL101, placing its initial order for all Air Guard bases. Testing began in 2009 when the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Command Test Center (AATC) began validation of the UL101 ultrasound detector. This was in response to a requirement established by the aircraft maintenance community at the Air Reserve Component (ARC) Weapons and Tactics Conference for a multipurpose leak detector.

As a result, CTRL worked closely with the AATC, Air Force Special Program Offices, and Guard Bases for testing, authorization, revision of technical data, and fielding to multiple platforms. The UL101 will be fielded for use on A-10, C-5, C-17, C-130, KC-135, F-15, and F-16 aircraft with further consideration for both fixed wing and rotary platforms.

“We worked with the Air National Guard through the entire process; from demos of our equipment, through the testing process, implementation, training, and now fielding,” said Ben Fried, VP of Sales and Marketing at CTRL Systems, Inc. “As a veteran owned organization, we understand the criticality of the fleet’s readiness.”

The Air Guard testing concluded that the UL101 is intuitive to use and has considerable capabilities for pressure and vacuum testing, both interior and exterior, as well as electrical discharge. Fielding will definitely enhance aircraft maintainers’ condition based monitoring capabilities for both the ARC and active duty Air Force on multiple systems on all platforms. The Air Guard foresees a significant reduction in overall troubleshooting time for aircraft maintainers.

“CTRL is committed to a long-term relationship with all of our customers,” said Fried. “We encourage all companies to investigate how ultrasound technologies can help save money and time with facilities management, whether military or corporate.”
