Big Key Self Storage Presents: Volunteering for FSSA in the Fight to Cure Cancer

In the attempts to aid the battle to cure cancer the FSSA embrace the opportunity to host a cocktail party in order to raise funds for Kure-It Cancer Research.

Miami, FL, October 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Have you been directly affected by or know someone diagnosed with Cancer? This is somewhat of a delicate subject and a word that fills us with mixed emotions. As the Operations Manager for Big Key Self Storage and volunteer for the FSSA you are given firsthand experience as to how people or just one person can make a difference. It has been a wonderful honor to be surrounded by great individuals in the self storage industry.

On October 4, 2012, the FSSA and Kure-it cancer research center gathered for the FSSA 4th Annual Executive Retreat in Orlando. During this time the Florida Self Storage Association hosted an open Bar and Food Cocktail Reception being held at the Gaylord Resort in Orlando. During the Cocktail Reception a Silent Auction was held to benefit Kure It Cancer Research in attempts to gather funding to further progress in much needed Cancer Research.

Donators for the silent auction are as follows: Bader Company, Marcus and Millichap, Chateau, Mini Co., Phone Smart, Site link, Premier Commercial, inc., NAI Tampa, Storage Clicks, Sure Check, DJJ, Premier Commercial, Inc.

The Cocktail Reception was sponsored by US Storage Search. There were great items up for auction for all to bid on with all proceeds going to Kure It for Cancer Research. FSSA members gathered to make this possible. The total raised during the cocktail party with all funds going to Kure It Cancer Research was $1,333.

"The mission of the Florida Self Storage Association is to ensure the stability and growth of the self-storage industry by providing a forum in which members may increase knowledge through educational opportunities, exchange information and promote an established unified voice." -FSSA Mission Statement, 1999-2012

In April of 2007, Barry partnered with City of Hope to create a fund called Kure It. Kidney Cancer Research Fund, which rose over $400,000 with the help of friends, family and colleagues. In January 2010, all involved determined the time had come to establish Kure It, Inc. as an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) organization; allowing for a broader range of opportunities resulting in a greater impact. In order to donate or get involved please visit Kure-It website for more information.

To Barry from Kure It: "A hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles." - Christopher Reeve, 1952-2004

All are encouraged all to give to the cause.
