Sale of Waterfront Real Estate in Sarasota County Helps Family Promise of Sarasota’s Cardboard City Event

Family Promise of Sarasota, a local non profit organization in Sarasota County recently received a donation for sponsorship for their Cardboard City event from a recent real estate transaction.

Sarasota, FL, October 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The recent sale of a waterfront property in Sarasota County made it possible for Generous Property and Linda McConnell of Gateway Home Lending to be able to help sponsor Family Promise of Sarasota’s upcoming, “Cardboard City” (November 10 – 11 4:00pm – 7:00am), an event to raise awareness and funds to assist the homeless in our own community. “Many would like to believe that Sarasota does not have a 'homelessness' problem. I knew that we did, but not until working with Family Promise did I realize the extent of it. Do you know that we get probably 25 phone calls (if not more) a month from families who are about to be, or are already, living on the street or in their vehicles? ” said Wendy Fitton, Family Promise of Sarasota’s Network Manager.

Troy Sacco of Generous Property added, “As a local real estate agency in Sarasota County our goal is to not only to provide excellent real estate services to our clients, but make use of the benefits of what we do best to help those less fortunate in our community. Family Promise of Sarasota provides a vital service to the homeless in Sarasota County and thanks to our clients; we’re able to be part of Cardboard City.”

Family Promise is a volunteer-driven program providing a unique transitional support system designed to assist homeless families with children in stabilizing their lives so that they can once again obtain and retain permanent housing.
