New Employee Benefit Solution by Jill’s List Shows Measurable Savings for Employers

Product that helps drive utilization of Flex-spending Accounts helps employees become healthier while saving both employees and employers money.

Boston, MA, October 23, 2012 --( Jill’s List, an online marketplace for complementary, alternative and integrative medicine, creates a new wellness solution for companies. A premium membership of Jill’s List, created for employers, helps both the employer and the employee leverage government sponsored tax benefits while also targeting a reduction in claims costs. The premium membership helps employees find holistic health professionals whose services can be paid for with Flex-spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and includes training modules which help employees determine if an expense is qualified for reimbursement. Additionally, with a Jill’s List premium account, employees can electronically request and receive a Letter of Medical Necessity, save receipts and auto-process FSA and HSA claims. This fall, through pilot partnerships with companies in the Boston-metro area, over 20,000 employees will have access to this premium version of Jill’s List.

Jill’s List is a directory of credentialed complementary, alternative and integrative practitioners. The inspiration for a premium membership for employees came when founder, Jill Shah, learned that the treatments offered by the practitioners on Jill’s List could be paid for with an employee’s FSA or HSA but very few employees knew about this. “More than 85% of companies in the US offer FSAs and 70% of large companies surveyed recently said that they will move to high deductible health plans coupled with HSAs by 2013,” says Shah. “The adoption of consumer-driven healthcare plans could significantly impact a turn-around in healthcare spending if we help employees understand how to utilize low-cost, less invasive mechanisms for treating prevention and treatment of chronic illnesses. The complexity of understanding eligible expenses and the cumbersome reimbursement paperwork sometimes deter employees from enrolling in an FSA or HSA plan. Jill’s List does the legwork for employees and provides an easy reference guide of treatments eligible for FSA and HSA reimbursement. Jill’s List also automates the process of procuring a doctor’s Letter of Medical Necessity, which is a requirement for reimbursement of most complementary and alternative treatments. Additionally, the Jill’s List Receipt Keeper makes it easy for employees to electronically store their receipts in one location and track spending as well as tax savings, and, with the press of a button, Jill’s List generates a monthly or annual summary of expenses to make submission of expenses faster and easier.
