Bayer MaterialScience's Baytown Plant Earns "Best in Texas" Safety Award

Employees’ safety excellence honored by Texas Chemical Council and Association of Chemical Industry of Texas.

Baytown, TX, October 25, 2012 --(PR.com)-- For Bayer MaterialScience LLC, creating and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment is always a top priority. Now, the company’s Baytown plant has been named “Best in Texas,” receiving top honors from the Texas Chemical Council and Association of Chemical Industry of Texas (TCC/ACIT) for excelling in occupational safety and promoting the improvement of safety performance.

“The entire Bayer organization takes safety very seriously, and our employees share best practices globally in the areas of occupational safety, plant safety and hazard prevention,” said Rod Herrick, general plant manager. “Being recognized as best in our class is a strong validation of our employees’ ongoing commitment to safety.”

TCC/ACIT’s “Best in Texas” awards are presented to the top chemical manufacturing facilities that meet stringent criteria and also maintain a quality safety program. A panel of industry peers that reviewed the plant’s 2011 safety statistics and description of its safety programs selected it as superior among other similar-size chemical companies in Texas.
