Gulf Coast Cheer Classic Officially Becomes Florida’s Largest Cheer Competition for Youth Football League Cheerleaders

Tampa, FL, October 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Tampa, Florida Gulf Coast Cheer Classic is proud to enter into its sixth year providing an all-star production celebrating young cheerleaders throughout the State of Florida. On Sunday, October 28, 2012 Gulf Coast Cheer Classic will welcome 2,700 youth league cheerleaders from seven Florida counties. With 194 competing teams, Gulf Coast Cheer Classic officially becomes the largest youth football league cheerleading competition within the State of the Florida.

Gulf Coast Cheer Classic is known for creating a “Hollywood – type” production to showcase girls ranging in age from 3 to 16 years old. The competition’s attention to detail has cheer coordinators, coaches and youth league athletic directors reaching out across the State to bring their girls to Lakeland for this annual event. Helen Guarvy, of Honeywell states, “as coordinator of the Pinellas Park T-Birds, I have chosen to bring my cheerleaders to the annual Gulf Coast Cheer Classic for the past 6 years. We love the style of the competition which keeps the excitement throughout the day for all competitors. The GCCC staff provides full information up front to help plan teams coming, quickly responds to questions, and the competition itself runs on time. The other reasons are that every cheer athlete gets a competition participation medal, that the awards ceremony is the best in Florida, the trophies are big, and the extra awards for 1st Place and Grand Champion make every athlete, every team strive to bring it on the mat.” With the sponsorship of No Limit Cheer Shoes, each grand champion cheerleader is awarded a pair of cheer shoes valued at $80 per pair, additionally they each receive a championship hoodie, banners for their football fields and trophies spanning over 5 feet in height. Division champions also go home with championship tee shirts.

The competition positioned itself as a family-oriented event with the inclusion of the GCCC Annual Tailgating Contest in 2009. This competition has brought cheer dads and entire families to the competition each year. Gulf Coast Cheer Classic provides a sort –after trophy, as well as a cash prize to the youth football league providing the best team spirit and tailgating experience. “Tailgating at GCCC is an opportunity to build camaraderie and pride within your organization. It truly gives the parents a reason to fully participate with their child's cheerleading experience. It makes the GCCC experience a total family event!”, Rudy Wolter, Director North America Security and Investigations Citigroup. Rudy is a cheer dad with the Wesley Chapel Cowboys organization. His tailgating competitor, David Cruz, Citrus Park Bills Might Mites Dad (AKA – Grill Master) states, "2011 was my daughter’s first year cheering with the Bills and I did not know what to expect. GCCC ended up being the most awesome Bill’s family get together of the year. We cooked all-you-could eat chicken wings for everyone. We also served up the best burgers and hot dogs in town. We fed an army of Bills parents and kids. We are really looking forward to Sunday’s event!" Not only do our cheer dads cook, they also dress up, have specialized shirts and cups made, they bring in large satellite dishes so they won’t miss Sunday football and they get to have fun, build team spirit as well as watch their girls perform against teams spanning from Hernando County down to Brevard and Broward Counties.

About Gulf Coast Cheer Classic:

Founded in 2006 by Rick & Kathy Shultz, Kelly Conlon and Waiel Bayyat to better serve young girls who are out on the football fields each weekend supporting our young football players. The partners wanted to create a day just about the girls and to celebrate their cheerleading successes. The partnership welcomed Ernie Diez in 2010. Ernie’s background in high-tech lighting, staging and music added depth to an already proven, successful competition. GCCC is the only competition in Florida to provide annual coaches clinics, field visits to help teams prepare for competition, medals for each participant, major prizes for all winners and a crowd favorite – confetti canons shooting 40 feet in the air when winners are announced. Our favorite quote from a young cheerleader, “I want confetti in my shoes!” For more information contact 813.385.2851.
