SIMUL8 and NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement Announce Agreement to Provide Software to Support Healthcare Improvement

Agreement will provide revolutionary strategic planning software for health and social care, Scenario Generator, to all NHS organizations in England to continue to support healthcare improvement.

London, United Kingdom, October 27, 2012 --(PR.com)-- SIMUL8 Corporation, producers of strategic planning software for health and social care Scenario Generator, today announced an agreement with NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement to provide their software to all NHS organizations in England to support healthcare improvement.

Developed between NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement and SIMUL8 Corporation, Scenario Generator has been used extensively by PCTs to test strategies for change and assess their impact on patient flow, waiting lists, resource utilization and costs. It is currently being used with the Department of Health QIPP Long Term Conditions Year of Care project to test the financial impact of any changes, and is used in Scotland, Canada, Italy and the USA.

“This software really comes into its own as healthcare organizations test out new ways of meeting the QIPP agenda,” said Dr. Nick Gaunt, Chief Information and Knowledge Officer at NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement. “We are delighted to continue to support the development of Scenario Generator to further healthcare improvement.”

When Scenario Generator was first launched in 2008, funding from the NHS Institute enabled a free license of the software to be given to each PCT in England. Now, with such widespread organizational reform, it has been agreed with the NHS Institute that any NHS organizations in England, not just PCTs, can own the software a substantially discounted rate.

Any NHS organization in England that purchases an annual maintenance package priced at £3,600 with training and support will now also receive a full perpetual license of Scenario Generator free of charge. This represents significant value with a stand-alone license of Scenario Generator costing £17,800 to purchase privately.

Claire Cordeaux, SIMUL8 Lead for Healthcare said, "We feel it is important that those committed to improving healthcare continue to have access to the best tools available, and this agreement allows us to support them in this challenging time of reform."

A new and improved version of Scenario Generator will be released and a user group is planned for later in the year to help build a community to support the challenges that lie ahead.
