Mira Telecom Installed Three Radar Systems for ROMATSA in Bucharest, Constanta and Arad

Mira Telecom finalized the installation of three radar systems for ROMATSA (Romanian Air Traffic Service Administration) in Bucharest, Constanța and Arad.

Bucharest, Romania, November 05, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The company was a subcontractor of the airspace and defense industry contractor Raytheon UK, part of Raytheon Systems Limited group and delivered works worth 360,000 Euro in total.

Raytheon Systems Limited and ROMATSA in February 2011 signed a contract for gradual acquisition, installation and commissioning of three radar systems MSSR Mode S (Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar).

Mira Telecom performed integrated works packages for the next three locations: Air Navigations Services Department (DSNA) Bucharest - Otopeni, CDZ (Routing Flight Center) Constanța - Mihail Kogălniceanu and CDZ Arad - Cap Radar Mănăștur.

The packages consisted in the design and execution of the civil works and electrical installations. Civil works included the installation of the complex structure necessary for placing Otopeni radar at the targeted height, installation of the randome support structure and ring- metal structure the construction of which requires special technical effort, installation of new weathering using state of art technologies and installation of access metal bridge around the randome. The electric installation works counted the installation of communication equipment in the specially designed technical rooms and the installation of an electric local distribution board in the equipment room, in each location.

The new radar systems MSSR Mode S replaced the old systems the life duration of which was already surpassed. State of art technology provided by Raytheon and selective interogation of transponders from the coverage area were among the benefits of the new systems.

These benefits contribute to the radio frequency pollution drop, high reliability and reduction of the maintenance costs. Radar installation also offers access to supplementary information straight from the board equipment and superior resolution in terms of detection.

The first radar system was installed in November 2011 at DSNA Otopeni, the second one was commissioned in December 2011 at CDZ Constanta-Mihail Kogalniceanu and the third one was delivered in May 2012, at Manastur, Arad county.

"We managed this time too to respect the execution graphic, even if these were works of a high complexity degree, which required accuracy in execution and the allotment of a time period that equaled the complexity. Furthermore this project has offered us the opportunity to collaborate with a prestigious partner with solid experience in airspace and security industry at international level and we learned a lot from this partnership", said Stelian Ilie, the president of Mira Telecom.
