New Jersey Food Bank Receives $10,000 GreaterGood Grant to Help with Storm Relief

Seattle, WA, November 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Liz Baker, executive director of GreaterGood.org, announced today that a disaster relief grant of $10,000 has been awarded to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) to assist families and individuals throughout multiple counties hit by high winds and flooding.

This grant was made possible by the “Help People Affected by Superstorm Sandy” Gift That Gives More [tm] featured at The Hunger Site and other GreaterGood Network websites.

CFBNJ is currently providing over 100,000 lbs. of food per day to individuals and families displaced by the storm and subsequent flooding. Despite losing power at their facilities for several days, the food bank continued to send truckloads of ready-to- eat meals and water to the Office of Emergency Management and shelters in Atlantic, Ocean, Somerset, Passaic, Essex, Middlesex, Hudson, Burlington, Monmouth, Bergen, and Cape May counties. They also gave blankets have to those displaced by flooding in Moonachie and Little Ferry.

CFBNJ is a member of Feeding America’s national network of food banks. Annually it provides close to 40 million pounds of food to help feed 900,000 people in need in eighteen of New Jersey's twenty-one counties.

More On GreaterGood Network

The GreaterGood Network began in 1999 with The Hunger Site, the Internet’s first “click to give” website. The Hunger Site continues to provide free and quick ways to help fight hunger and poverty in the United States and abroad.

Each click on the yellow "Click Here to Give - it’s FREE" button at www.TheHungerSite.com provides food for those in need. 100% of the "click donations" received from sponsoring advertisers is given to charity. Primary beneficiaries of these donations are Feeding America, Mercy Corps, and Millennium Promise. Additional donations are generated through purchases at The Hunger Store, which features a wide variety of fair trade and ethically sourced products including the Global Girlfriend line of clothing and accessories made by women-owned companies around the world.

Today, the GreaterGood Network consists of more than a dozen websites and Facebook pages that allow visitors to support causes they love through simple, quick actions such as clicking on button or launching an app.

The Gifts That Give More [tm] program enables visitors to make small donations, ranging from $10 to $50, to help specific charities or aid in time of disaster. Participation in the Gifts That Give More [tm] program is free for the charities and 100% of the donations received through this program are distributed by GreaterGood.org as designated on the Gift webpage.

Since 1999, the GreaterGood Network has given nearly $30 million dollars to charities across the United States and around the world.
