BASF Named 2012 Sponsor of the Year by Habitat for Humanity

Wyandotte, MI, November 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Habitat for Humanity has recognized the BASF site in Wyandotte, Michigan, for its spirit of partnership with a “2012 Sponsor of the Year” Award.

The award was presented by Habitat for Humanity of Western Wayne County at its annual gala on Nov. 1, at the Inn at St. John’s, Plymouth, Michigan.

“We are very pleased to be honored with this award,” said Greg Pflum, Vice President and General Manager – Midwest Hub, for BASF in North America. “It speaks to the dedication of our employee volunteers who worked tirelessly over two full days to help a Taylor, Michigan home.”

More than 30 BASF employees installed flooring, set up cabinets and countertops, connected plumbing, painted and performed outdoor clean-up and landscaping. The Wyandotte site also presented a donation to fund the purchase of construction tools and materials needed for the project.

Habitat for Humanity of Western Wayne County Sponsor of the Year Award honors an individual or organization who has significantly contributed toward the completion of a house. The contribution often includes additional support above and beyond the financial contribution through volunteer support, and Gift-in-Kind donations.

BASF’s Wyandotte site spans more than 2,100 acres and hosts multiple business groups, functions and manufacturing plants which produce a variety of urethane and specialty plastics products. The site employs about 1,200 full-time and contract employees.
