John Rex Endowment Awards Injury Prevention and Capacity Building Grants

The John Rex Endowment has invested more than $1 million since October 2009 to support capacity building for 27 local nonprofits. Since November 2011, more than $500,000 has been awarded by the John Rex Endowment to support injury prevention in Wake County.

Raleigh, NC, November 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The John Rex Endowment announces the approval of an injury prevention grant for InterAct and capacity building grants for PLM Families Together, the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation, and the North Carolina Pediatric Society Foundation. The four grants total more than $160,000.

InterAct will receive a $71,335 grant for a seven-month project that will include an assessment and restructure of InterAct’s Youth Education Services (YES) program with a focus on reaching more Wake County youth with critical injury prevention education that is more culturally relevant for today’s youth.

Capacity building grants will be awarded in the amount of $30,361 for PLM Families Together and $50,050 for the North Carolina Pediatric Society Foundation. Capacity building projects may focus on mission, vision, and strategy; governance and leadership; resource development; strategic relationships; internal operations and management; and program delivery and impact. Additionally, the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation will receive an organizational assessment grant of $10,164.
