Friends of the NCVMA Foundation Supports Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation

Philanthropic Arm of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association Makes $400 Donation to Waynesville Nonprofit

Waynesville, NC, November 17, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (www.ncvma.org) has announced that Friends of the NCVMA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the organization, donated $400 to Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation on behalf of the organization. This donation supports Sarge’s efforts to find foster and permanent homes for pets from the Haywood County Animal Control facility, as well as their other work with the facility’s staff and animals. With the assistance of various groups, Sarge’s has helped dramatically reduce the rate of euthanasia at the shelter.

Dr. Gary Smith, the president of Sarge’s, accepted the foundation’s donation from Kristen Hammett, DVM, treasurer of NCVMA and owner of the Animal Hospital of Waynesville, on behalf of the organization.

Quotes:
“We are pleased to be able to support Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation with this donation,” said Claire Holley, executive director of the NCVMA. “Unfortunately, the number of animals that arrive at the Haywood County Animal Control facility is so great that they can only remain there for a limited time. Sarge’s does a fantastic job of reducing the number of animals that must be euthanized, and we are honored to support them in their fight for the protection and health of Haywood County animals.”
