Clarendon Hills, IL, November 29, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Birches Assisted Living sponsored a Halloween event which brought local children and residents together for a fun filled evening of trick-or-treating and entertainment. This was the seventh annual event. A total of 130 people participated in the event. These participants included neighborhood kids, grandchildren of residents, employees’ kids, residents, volunteer high school students, and Birches staff. The kids dressed up as fairies, cowboys, King Tut, pirates, and Mario Brothers. Katie Klitchman, The Birches event coordinator, said, “I love these kinds of events because everyone of all ages smiles, laughs, shares, and cares. We give to the community and they give right back. It doesn’t get any better than that. “

The early evening event included children trick-or-treating from apartment to apartment at The Birches. After the trick-or-treating, a juggling performance by professional entertainer, Andy Head, was performed for the children and the residents.

The Birches would like to thank Heather Kochen, the volunteer coordinator with the St. Thomas Hospice Teen Group, for donating her time. The teens were instrumental in guiding the children through the evening’s activities. This teen group also does many volunteer projects throughout the year on the Encore Floor at The Birches. The Birches has an ongoing relationship with Adventist St. Thomas Hospice.

Andy Head is a nationally known entertainer, known for his great juggling skill, wacky comedy, and wonderful showmanship. Andy Head has performed on “Late Night” with David Letterman, Bozo Circus, and at hundreds of schools. Andy has been performing at The Birches for the last four years.
