Charleston, SC, December 05, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina Evan Guthrie Law Firm taught an estate planning and probate class at Daniel Island Library on Daniel Island in Charleston, SC on Tuesday October 16th 2012. The class was open to the general public and was offered by the library and the Evan Guthrie Law Firm at no cost. This was the second time that attorney Evan Guthrie had spoken at Daniel Island Library after speaking there earlier in the year in April of 2012. Mr. Guthrie’s presentation covered the beginning principles of estate planning and the probate process by explaining what planning an estate entails, what two kinds of assets someone can own, what the most common types of plans were, the differences between a living trust and a last will and testament, how the probate court works, how long it takes to probate a typical estate, what typical probate fees occur, how to plan for incapacity from both a financial and health perspective, the most common planning errors the public generally makes, and the best ways to get started and get motivated to make a plan. Attorney Guthrie answered questions that ranged from how to get assets in a living trust to how to best pass on a family business, and they best time to begin making a plan. Mr. Guthrie enjoyed returning to Daniel Island to teach the class and partnering with the library to provide a lesson on such an important topic to the community. Daniel Island Library is part of the Berkeley County Library System and attorney Guthrie has taught similar classes at other libraries in Berkeley County including Hanahan and Goose Creek. The Evan Guthrie Law Firm practices estate planning and probate and Mr. Guthrie is happy to impart some of his knowledge while teaching a class and answer questions that can provide relief to concerns and worries of attendees.
