Texas Trust Donates $5,000 to Athens Kiwanis

Texas Trust Credit Union gave $5,000 to the Athens Kiwanis. The donation will go toward the splash pad the Kiwanis are building at the Kiwanis Park in Athens, Texas.

Mansfield, TX, December 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Texas Trust Credit Union donated $5,000 to the Athens Kiwanis Club. The donation will be used to help fund the new splash pad for the Kiwanis Park in Athens. The check was presented to Rita Clark, president of the Kiwanis Club, and Sarah Hueber, president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce.

The splash pad will provide a safe and handicapped-accessible water play area for the children of Henderson County and visitors to the community. The creation of the splash pad is a joint project of the Athens Kiwanis, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Athens Leadership Institute Project. The splash pad will offer a fun alternative to a swimming pool where children and their parents can play and cool off on hot summer days. Athens has been without a community swimming pool since 2010 when it was permanently closed due to ongoing maintenance concerns.

"We are thankful for Texas Trust's donation and its support to help us build the splash pad," said Rita Clark, president of the Athens Kiwanis club. "The splash pad will give people in the community another reason to visit the park, to play and have family gatherings."

"It's very important to Texas Trust to give to the communities in which we do business," said Jim Minge, president of Texas Trust Credit Union. "The splash pad is a very worthwhile project, and one that we are proud to be part of."
