Dallas, TX, February 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Black Transmen, Inc Transgender Student Scholarship Fund (TSSF) Board is proud to sponsor their first annual fundraising event. This annual benefit will raise funds to provide educational and book scholarships for qualifying transgender undergraduate and graduate students. By assisting transgender students supplement the cost of a quality education Black Transmen, Inc. will inspire and build the next generation of leaders.

As you may know, Black Transmen, Inc is focused on acknowledgment, social advocacy and empowering the transgender community with the necessary tools to secure identity and equality within their society regardless of race, creed, color, religion, sexual identity or sexual expression.

Gaining access to higher education for transgender students, specifically those between the ages of 18-24, is more challenging than those in the same age bracket in the general population, according to research conducted by the National Gay and Lesbian Taskforce. Many people are experiencing hardships and with transgender persons four times more likely to live in extreme poverty, a scholarship will afford transgender students the opportunity to attend a college or university. Transgender and Gender Non-conforming scholars call for a champion of friends and allies just like you to invest in their future.

Join Black Transmen, Inc. in the investment in the future of a transgender student by providing them with a scholarship. A small donation of $50 will help reach their goal of $5,000 allowing them to award at least 12-15 educational scholarships.

The fund raising event occurs annually at the Black Transmen, Inc Transgender Advocacy Conference Awards Dinner and will take place on Saturday March 18, 2013 at 7:00pm at Double Tree Hilton. BTMI request the honor of your presence but if you prefer to send your donation, please send to: Black Transmen, Inc or make a donation online.
