Fort Lauderdale, FL, January 10, 2013 --(PR.com)-- JDL Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-GM: JCS), has been approved as a Qualified Information Technology Vendor (Non-EHR) by the University of Central Florida Regional Extension Center (UCF REC)for physicians, clinicians and other healthcare providers in the seven counties of Central Florida.

The UCF REC was funded by a federal grant under the Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center Grant Program to help improve healthcare delivery in Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole, and Volusia counties by promoting the widespread adoption and meaningful use of health information technology. The UCF REC meets with healthcare providers across Central Florida to assist them in selecting, adopting, and effectively using electronic health records (EHRs) to improve patient care in accordance with the 2009 HITECH Act.

“We are delighted to welcome JDL Technologies to the select UCF REC roster of information technology solutions providers serving Central Florida,” said LaTonya McWilliams, UCF REC program administrator. “JDL Technologies is able to provide infrastructure, support, vendor management and IT management services to augment EHR initiatives—and in doing so can facilitate integrated, cost-effective technology upgrades for healthcare providers in Central Florida.”
