My goal is to support the food industry and assure they will meet the increasingly complex requirements of the government, customers and consumers. This success of this project is significant. It provides a clear signal of re-commitment to the business of food safety in general and the measure of excellence and performance management in particular."

Meeting the standard requires adoption of the GFSI principles, including is a rigorous undertaking with tremendous benefits. Ms. Young commented, "It requires the overall development of an organization--its entire culture, level of responsibilities and efficiency.
