New York, NY, February 07, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Joann Ferrara, founder and Executive Director of Dancing Dreams, announced the addition of Nancy Maffucci, a marketing communications executive to its Board of Directors. Maffucci, who has more than 25 years experience at major public relations and advertising firms, including Burson-Marsteller, Cohn & Wolfe and Wunderman, has also held senior roles at MasterCard International. She is now EVP, Global Communications at Wunderman.

Dancing Dreams, a Queens-based charity started in 2002 when Ferrara, a pediatric physical therapist with a background in ballet, was inspired to make dreams of little girls who wanted to dance just like their friends, sisters, cousins and even their mothers. However, physical and medical challenges prevented these children from joining traditional ballet classes in their communities. Dancing Dreams has grown from five girls to more than 65 (and growing!) ranging in age fom three to 17.

In 2013, Dancing Dreams will perform a full-scale dance recital, complete with costumes, make-up and set design. Past performances have included "Once Upon A Time" and "The Nutcracker Suite." The theme for the 2013 recital, which will be held April 28th, will be announced shortly. In addition, the organization hopes to announce plans for Manhattan-based classes later this year.

"Nancy is an exciting addition to Dancing Dreams. Her insight, ideas and expertise complement the skills represented on our board," said Ferrara. "She has the hopes and aspirations of our children top of mind."

Maffucci joins Ferrara and fellow board members Elizabeth Hemmerdinger, Patricia Hassett-Ribaudo, Valerie Rowe, Mindy Schneider and Cathleen Trautwig in their quest to make the dancing dreams of children with physical and medical challenges come true.

Dancing Dreams is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that relies on charitable contributions for funding. Donations can be made via its website, dancingdreams.org, or by calling Dancing Dreams at (516) 659-8704.
