Star Shuttle & Charter Receives UMA Vision Award; John P. Walker Accepts Honor at Travel Exchange 2013

Orlando, FL, February 15, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Star Shuttle & Charter of San Antonio, Texas, a family-owned transportation company with two decades of premiere charter service, is proud to have been presented with the United Motorcoach Association’s Vision Award at this year’s Travel Exchange conference.

UMA’s Vision Award is an annual honor that serves to acknowledge companies that advance the motorcoach industry while raising the standards for operators across the board. The qualities of a Vision Award recipient include sound business ethics, exceptional safety standards, innovative marketing and operations approaches, social responsibility and a dedication to their community. Two companies are recognized for the Vision Award each year, one larger operator (15 coaches or more) and one small operator (under 15 coaches). Out of the 950 motorcoach members in North America, Star Shuttle & Charter was thrilled to be the 2013 Large Operator Vision Award recipient.

This year’s award ceremony was an extraordinary event, as both motorcoach operators and tour operators attended. Travel Exchange 2013 marked the first year ever that the tourism industry’s leading association NTA collaborated with UMA for a combined conference and EXPO that was a great success. The associations’ evening events joined forces as well, with UMA's Vision Awards and NTA's Gala Reception comingling to create a night of unparalleled industry celebration. Star Shuttle & Charter is exceptionally honored to be the Vision Award recipient at the first ever Travel Exchange show.

Bill Allen, Chairman of NTA presented the award to John Walker, President of Star Shuttle & Charter before an energetic black tie audience on January 23rd, 2013. In his acceptance speech, John Walker spoke to the innovation that the Vision Award promotes. Walker promised that Star Shuttle “will display this Award proudly” and continued to remark, “It is truly an honor to represent the Vision of UMA, an organization that is so dedicated to educating and inspiring its members to explore new opportunities.”

Mr. Walker added: “In addition to charter coaches, Gray Line sightseeing and receptive services, part of what we do is to transport thousands of mobility-impaired persons every day – a huge undertaking that our team does 365 days a year. We not only provide affordable transportation, but we also deliver mobility - which is an essential form of Freedom! We provide both physical mobility and social mobility by freeing up caregivers and for getting people - who cannot navigate the transit system - to jobs and every day activities. The benefits to society are immeasurable - and we are so proud and thankful for being a part of that Vision, that Dream.”

The Vision Award holds an even higher honor for the Walker family as they celebrate their 50th year in ground transportation enterprises, and for Star Shuttle & Charter as 2012 marked their 20th year in business. The Walker family and Star Shuttle & Charter would like to extend their gratitude to their dedicated riders, hard working staff and to UMA for the prestigious award.
