Made In A Free World Asks: Does Congress Still Agree with Lincoln?

2-minute Lincoln film highlights America's current commitment to freeing the slaves.

Oakland, CA, February 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Made In A Free World, the nonprofit organization that created Slavery Footprint, today unveiled a new awareness and action campaign to combat human trafficking. Driving the campaign is a 2-minute viral video dramatizing one woman's fateful journey into modern-day slavery, culminating in a very unexpected ending.

The provocative film is directed by Noam Murrow (Warner Bros. upcoming film 300: Rise of an Empire, Smart People) with creative director, Jamie Barrett (NBA, Comcast, Chevy), and co-producer, Justin Dillon (CALL+RESPONSE). The film is set to an original score written by 2013 Academy Award nominee, J. Ralph.

I'm With Lincoln capitalizes on the attention the 16th President is receiving this week due to multiple Academy Award nominations. Dillon, founder and CEO of Made In A Free World says, "Lincoln is up for an Oscar because he moved Congress to act on slavery. The best way we can celebrate his accomplishment is to continue his work." Over 27 million people are currently trapped in slavery, most of them women and children. Dillon went on to say, "Ending slavery is woven into our national narrative... It needs to remain a priority."

As President Obama stated at Clinton Global Initiative, "Our fight against human trafficking is one of the great human rights causes of our time." Recently, Congress has been slow to pass basic human rights acts such as the TVPRA (Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act) and VAWA (Violence Against Women Act). ImWithLincoln.com offers an online petition telling Congress to prioritize the issue by doubling the funding used to rehabilitate victims and prevent modern-day slavery. The campaign highlights the fact that 150 years after Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, there are more slaves than ever before. As Dillon says, "If we want to celebrate the man, we need to personify his work."
