Convaid Donates Wheelchairs to North High School in Torrance, CA

This past week, Convaid partnered with North High School Student (NHS) Hailey Huff and Special Education Teacher Carey Gromis, to donate a EZ Rider and Cruiser wheelchair to the special education program at the Torrance based High School.

Torrance, CA, February 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- To help continue creating a better life for special needs youth and their families, Convaid, Inc., has donated a Convaid Crusier and EZ Rider wheelchair to the Division of Special Education (DSE) program at North High School (NHS) in Torrance, CA.

The DSE program is a special educational program to help fit the needs of students with special needs. Students complete high school requirements in small self-contained classes and are mainstreamed into regular classes as appropriate.

Led by Carey Gromis – special education teacher for the Los Angeles Office of Education (LACOE), NHS has five classrooms across campus dedicated to the special needs students and often times need wheelchairs to help transport the students to different classrooms.

Hailey Huff, a senior at NHS and Teacher’s Aid for Mr. Gromis, initiated the donation and is amazed by the outcome of her efforts.

“I’ve heard my mom talking endlessly about Convaid’s compassion for the community and how they help thousands of kids and families with special needs kids every year,” Huff said. “The humanitarian efforts from Mr. Gromis and Convaid have inspired me to study speech pathology at San Diego State this coming fall and to help make a difference.”

Convaid President Chris Braun, is glad Convaid got to be a part of this effort to help improve the daily lives of these special needs teens.

“We are proud to be a part of this collaboration with North High School,” said President of Convaid Chris Braun. “We love helping organizations in our community and we hope our wheelchairs give everyone a little more freedom to do more and live richer and fuller lives.”
