Razoo Launches a "Social Network for Social Good"

Razoo today announced that it launched the beta version of its website, Razoo.com, a social networking site that encourages user-generated content around shared passions and issues.

Washington, DC, August 03, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Razoo today announced that it launched the beta version of its website, Razoo.com, a social networking site that encourages user-generated content around shared passions and issues. Razoo community members can connect with like-minded people via causes, groups, personal profiles and actions, all with the intent to make positive change in our world.

J. Sebastian Traeger, Razoo’s CEO, said the launch marked a significant milestone for the young company. “Razoo.com aims to be the premier social network for connecting passionate young people with each other, with causes and with groups who can inspire and amplify their efforts.” The launch culminates eight months of development for the Razoo team.

The stated mission of Razoo is simple: to promote social good and to inspire others to get involved by making giving and serving fun, easy, and meaningful.

Commenting on its unusual name, Traeger said: “A ‘razoo’ is a coin of the smallest value. The idea behind naming our company after what might seem insignificant to some, is that when combined, small contributions have great value. This word ‘razoo’ is the root of what our business is all about—small actions coming together to change lives and to change our world.”

In addition to the Razoo.com website, the company has launched several other platforms, each sharing the goal of inspiring giving and serving among young people. The Good Happens blog and newsletter aim to be the "MTV News" of the social good space, shining a spotlight on the good that happens around us every day. Speed Granting is both an online and offline platform that encourages and rewards social entrepreneurs for their social initiatives, and allows their peers cast votes to determine the recipients of the grants. And Brewing Good is a monthly offline event that brings together young people in a fun and creative environment to encourage, recognize and celebrate the good they are doing.

“The launch of our website is great news for our constituents, who will now have a place to connect where they can strengthen relationships and build micro-communities for action. And, the best part: it’s only just the beginning,” said Traeger.
