Parents Thankful for Innovative Teen Driving Monitor

Chicago, IL, August 04, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Surprisingly, a new system for monitoring the driving behavior of teenagers is bringing teens closer to their parents. The program has been developed by MyTeen.com, a Chicago, IL area company.

"A phone call and an email" said Brian Parpart, MyTeen’s Director of Research, "is just what happens when someone notices your teenager driving poorly."

The MyTeen system was developed not only to report poor driving behavior. "We really wanted a system that also focused on the positives of teenage drivers, as it has been our goal to provide parents and teenagers a resource that creates accountability and celebrates the fact that their teenager is driving.” Company officials have stated “although many of our calls are related to poor driving, nearly10% of the reports are motorists leaving compliments for a teen driver”.

Combining a state-of-the-art automated reporting system and an attractive bumper sticker; parents receive both phone calls and emails informing them that there has been a reported driving incident. "Teenagers know that if they are driving dangerously that there is a good chance that they will receive a call from their parents, letting them know that they have been caught-in-the-act”, explained Parpart. The MyTeen system has proven to reduce situations where a teenager might otherwise speed or take unnecessary risks.

MyTeen is also working with local and state courts that will use the service to help parents monitor the driving habits of teens who have received multiple tickets. Parpart explains, “The courts who are using the MyTeen service are not doing it for punishment, but rather as an effort to build accountability and to keep these teens out of court.”

Parents can sign up for this service, which is less than $3.50 per month at MyTeen.com

The MyTeen web site also provides parents and teenagers’ detailed information about the many challenges teenagers face each day. “We have gathered the most relevant data and have created categories that are full of helpful information for both parents and teenagers.”

MyTeen is a Chicago area company that specializes in bringing teens and their parents closer together by building trust, confidence and accountability. School fundraisers, on-line stores, insurance agents and traditional brick-and-mortar retailers are just some of organizations that are distributing the company’s monitoring service.
