Baltimore Fit Body Bootcamp Competes in the Tough Mudder 2013

Baltimore Fit Body Bootcamp puts together a team to compete in the Tough Mudder 2013. With a training plan designed and willing participants, Fit Body hopes to raise a lot of money and bring people together while getting fit.

Timonium, MD, March 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Baltimore Fit Body Bootcamp is forming a team to train for the MidAtlantic Tough Mudder on April 20-21 in Gerrardstown WV.

The Baltimore Fit Body community works together to help raise money for all kinds of charities. They host and participate in many fun events in order to work for a greater cause. They have done multiple mud runs in the past, this being the second Tough Mudder they will complete.

The Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile obstacle course designed to challenge your strength, endurance, stamina, mental toughness, and teamwork. Developed by British Special Forces, the Tough Mudder is considered the toughest event on the planet by the founders and many participants. Tough Mudder is not a race, but a challenge, with 28 obstacles that are made to be fun and leave you with a sense of accomplishment. Participants sign up as part of a team and help each other complete the grueling tasks along the way.

Some of the obstacles include: Arctic Enema, a jump into and a swim through a pool of frigid ice water, under wooden beams and all the way to the other side, and Electroshock Therapy, a sprint through a field of live wires each containing 10,000V of electricity. Other obstacles walking through fire, sliding down a slippery slope into mud, and walking a narrow beam of wood with a pool of ice water below.

Founded by Will Dean, a former counter-terrorism agent for the British Special Forces, Tough Mudder was created as a way to showcase your toughness in a way marathons and other obstacle course runs can’t.

The event raises money for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). WWP is a nonprofit organization which works to raise awareness and provide support for injured service members. With five key values of Fun, Integrity, Loyalty, Innovation, and Service, their goal is to “To foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history.”

Tough Mudder has helped raise over $5 million for WWP with the help of over 700,000 participants worldwide. Many of the service members who are a part of this program compete in the Tough Mudder as a way to prove to themselves and others that they still have what it takes.

This will be second Tough Mudder Baltimore Fit Body Boot Camp will complete. The Baltimore Fit Body community works together to help raise money for all kinds of charities. They host and participate in many fun events in order to work for a greater cause.

The bootcamp owner, Jeff Sherman says getting involved as a way to build community as well as get in shape and raise money for a great cause at the same time.

Sherman says Baltimore Fit Body Bootcamp's goal is to provide an overall community service to the Baltimore area. Founded by Jeff Sherman in 2009, it is not just a regular gym, but a way to lose that extra weight through a combination of fitness and nutritional counseling. Sherman says each workout runs an hour long, burns 700 calories and is designed to tighten and tone muscles, reduce fat, and increase your confidence while meeting new people. Each trainer provides a motivational environment and wants to see you succeed.

Jeff’s motto: “Be Unstoppable in Fitness and in Life” has given him the chance to help as many people as he can get in shape. Starting as a personal trainer, he decided that group fitness maximized his ability to see and help more clients.

Baltimore Fit Body Bootcamp has developed an official training schedule for this event and it’s free with your Fit Body membership. They meet Saturdays at either the NCR Trail or Loch Raven Reservoir to train. It is not only a great way to get in shape, but also to connect with other members, and train for this event.

Registration for the Tough Mudder closes about one week prior to the event around April 13th. Contact Jeff at 410-779-9646 to sign up under the Fit Body team.
