Phoenix, AZ, March 07, 2013 --(PR.com
)-- OAKers will be gathering on the southwest corner of Scottsdale Rd. and Camelback Rd. this Saturday from 11:00am to 2:00pm to participate in the first official OAK event. “We named this event 'Love Letters' because we’ll be handing out cards with happy messages written inside to people passing by,” says OAK founder Elizabeth Humphreys. “Our goal is to make people smile – to brighten their day – and hopefully inspire them to do something nice for someone else.”
To add a fun twist to the event, OAKers are encouraged to dress up in costume. "My best friend and I tested out the idea two weeks ago at a grocery store by my house," says Humphreys. “We got a great response, so I thought it would be fun to get more people involved!”
OAK will be providing cards for all attendees to write in and hand out. “We’re really excited about our first event and are expecting a pretty good turnout,” says Humphreys. “It’s going to be a lot of fun!”
Humphreys is also currently working with Phoenix Parks and Recreation to adopt a park for OAK to maintain.
Organized Acts of Kindness (OAK) is dedicated to spreading love and happiness throughout the community through fun acts of kindness and compassion. OAK events combine elements of the New York City-based group “Improve Everywhere” and Random Acts of Kindness and are held monthly throughout the greater Phoenix area.
