Cathy Sanita Named New Executive Director for Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Raleigh District

The local Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) office has announced Cathy Sanita has been appointed Executive Director of the Raleigh District covering 18 counties.

Raleigh, NC, March 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The local Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) office has announced that Cathy Sanita has been appointed Executive Director of the Raleigh District. Ms. Sanita’s operations and leadership experience along with her involvement with the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women program will bring new energy that will enhance MDA’s mission in the Raleigh District.

Ms. Sanita has been leading efforts in business operations, marketing management, public relations and human resources in the Triangle area for 17 years. Prior to that, her business experience included work in New York focusing on administrative management and business development. Over the years, Ms. Sanita has volunteered for numerous organizations and held various leadership roles on boards and committees. Most recently, her involvement with Go Red For Women included event logistics, securing sponsors and working with vendors for various events.

“I am honored to have been selected for this position,” said Ms. Sanita. “MDA has had a powerful impact through its pioneering efforts in the field of neuromuscular diseases. It is my vision to continue to grow the programs and services we provide to individuals in our community living with progressive muscle diseases and to develop strong partnerships with the business community to support our mission.”

MDA’s Raleigh district covers 18 counties north to the Virginia border and south through Fayetteville. Individuals with neuromuscular disease can receive excellent care at the MDA Clinics at Duke University Medical Center in Durham and at University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill. In addition to the MDA clinics, services provided include support groups, assistance with durable medical equipment, summer camp, flu shots, advocacy, online support services and public and professional health education.
