Top Hairstyles of Year Honored with Super-Hair Crown Awards

Super-Hair.Net presented Crown Awards to the year's top hairstyles Sunday. Tennis champion Victoria Azarenka led all winners with four.

Columbus, GA, March 12, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Victoria Azarenka had a breakthrough year in 2012 - and it turns out the success came in more than tennis. The two-time Australian Open champion became a dominant figure at the celebrity hair website Super-Hair.Net. Azarenka topped things off Sunday night, by becoming only the second woman to win four Crown Awards in a year.

Azarenka was voted Best Long Hair of the year, after two months of online voting. She also won the Crowns for Best Hairstyle in Athletics and Newcomer of the Year, announced during a live chat at the Super-Hair website. Azarenka already had one award assured, by winning the year-long head-to-head hair tournament called Super-Hair Wars - and that followed a victory for her native Belarus in the website's EuroCup 2012 tournament.

"Victoria potentially could have won a fifth Crown," the overseer of Super-Hair.Net revealed. "A visitor nominated her for Best Blonde. But some Hair Fans can be nit-picky when it comes to color, and we didn't think she was blonde enough for the category." Azarenka thus comes one short of matching the five-award year Bonnie Bernstein had in 2002.

Two stars of Glee combined to win three Crowns. Lea Michele received two, as Best Hairstyle on Television and Best Brunette. And Dianna Agron became the first woman to win the top-level Best Short Hair prize two years in a row.

History was made in another category, as Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee won the award for Best Hair in Government/Politics at age 60. She set a record one year before as the oldest Crown winner.

Other Crown Award winners included New Girl star Zooey Deschanel for her bangs, Connie Britton of Nashville as Best Redhead and Amy Adams for her hair in the movie Trouble With the Curve. The full list of winners with pictures of their styles are posted in the Crown Awards area of Super-Hair.Net. Visitors also can review winners from 12 prior years.

Super-Hair.Net has honored the top celebrity hairstyles of today and modern times since 2000, with a mix of information and interactive competitions. The site has received about 1.5 million visitors since it began.
