This exciting weekend features a day of white water rafting, then a cookout with a variety of food, fun and games for rafters. In addition to rafting and a cookout, River Expeditions also provides camping for two nights and a lite daily breakfast. Enjoy a weekend getaway, including learning to “surf,” West Virginia style, for the special, discounted price of $155 per person.

“This is a great chance to experience the New River and rafting for a great value in a convenient location for your summer getaway!” says River Expeditions’ Owner, Rick Johnson. “There is something for everyone at River Expeditions, so bring your friends and family for a weekend full of adventure and fun!”

The New River is full of natural and cultural history with a multitude of scenic and recreational activities including white water rafting, fishing, and scenic float trips, to name a few. The river splits into two distinct sections; the Upper and Lower New River. The Upper New River is suitable for the first time rafter and the Lower New River (commonly known as “The Grand Canyon of the East”) is perfect for the veteran rafter. Both routes offer an incredible experience in nature, but the pace of the Upper New River is great for families with children aged 6 and up, and is full of chances to take pictures and relax. Rafting in August is a refreshing way to beat the heat.

White water rafting consists of navigating a stretch of river on an inflatable raft. Trips usually last 5-7 hours, including lunch. Neither swimming nor experience are necessary, although the former is helpful. Each guest is provided with all necessary safety equipment: a Coast Guard approved Type V Life Jacket, Paddle, and Helmet.
