Panera Bread and Food Bank of South Jersey Fight Local Hunger

Pennsauken, NJ, March 17, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Panera Bread and the Food Bank of South Jersey CEO, Val Traore, announced their partnership to help the hungry in South Jersey. Six local Panera stores located in Cherry Hill, Moorestown, Delran, Voorhees, Marlton and Mount Laurel will participate in the Community Breadbox Program to support food distribution and services throughout the four county area. Panera customers will be encouraged to donate at the cash register with all donations distributed to the Food Bank of South Jersey.

The local partnership with Panera is a natural, explains Traore of the program. “Their organization remains committed to a great, fresh product, promoting good nutrition and eliminating food insecurity in the country. By teaming up locally with Panera, we’re bringing a strong focus on food insecurity – and the socially conscious companies that fight it - to our corner of the world.”

Founded in 1981, Panera, whose mission is “a loaf of bread in every arm,” has dedicated itself to working with local neighborhoods to eliminate hunger through a variety of initiatives. Among these are the Community Breadbox, Day-End Dough-Nation and other special programs. “We’re a community conscious and community oriented company,” explains Theresa Rivello, Regional Marketing Director of Panera Bread. “Our goal is to raise the level of awareness about food insecurity in this country while also being a catalyst for change in our communities. We look forward to helping the Food Bank – and our neighbors – right here in South Jersey.” www.foodbanksj.org/images/pdf/PaneraPartnershipMarch%202013-rev.pdf

To support that effort, Panera employees from all participating locations will spend time at Food Bank South Jersey’s new 65,000 square foot Distribution Center doing volunteer and team building projects designed to heighten their awareness of food insecurity in our area. The drive to encourage donations at each store began Thursday, March 14th.
