Vinously Speaking - an Eclectic Wine Shop Launches Crowdfunding Campaign to Expand San Antonio's Urban Wine Culture

Crowdfunding Campaign Aligns with Shop's One-Year Anniversary and Owner's Recognition as a Master in Wine Business

San Antonio, TX, March 25, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The dynamic duo of Vinously Speaking gear up for an abundance of celebrations as their one year anniversary approaches.

Cecilia Barretto and Melissa Unsell opened the doors to Vinously Speaking - An Eclectic Wine Shop one year ago. They have ignited the city's wine culture by appealing to all wine lovers - novices and experts alike. Offering a unique collection of bottles in the store, their focus is to offer clients selections from boutique lots of wine that most times are not offered at other high-volume retail locations, explains Cecilia Barretto, co-owner of the shop. For the past 30 Saturdays, the shop has offered free wine tastings alongside specific, creative food pairings. "This is just one of the ways we are raising the level of service to our clients, by offering a learning environment during our tastings alongside the symbiotic pairings of food and wine. We are elevating the wine experience, and our client's love it," says Melissa Unsell, co-owner of the shop.

Barretto and Unsell are excited to grow the Vinously Speaking brand with a crowdfunding campaign. The campaign will expand the business by allowing the team to offer wines by the glass and provide a venue for private events and education. This will compliment their other services such as, private events and tastings, private catered events with food and wine pairings, hosting vintner dinners or wine trips, and making wine recommendations for restaurants or private event. Their philosophy is to make wine an un-intimidating, fun libation. "The timing is right for us, as our vibrant city continues to grow and as people move here, we see great opportunity for the wine industry to explode," says Barretto.

Although the shop exists in the Medical Center (at Wurzbach and Babcock), the team has engaged in events around the city, including the Better Block events that focus on bringing to life underutilized blocks in the city's urban core.

Subsequently, Barretto will receive her Master's in Wine Business this month from the Burgundy School of Business in Dijon, France. Barretto will be the first in San Antonio with such a designation.

The crowdfunding campaign launched Thursday, March 21st. Anyone can support the campaign by donating to Vinously Speaking in return for great wine discounts and access to private events. Donations can be made at www.gofundme.com/vinouslyspeaking.

The duo will also host a funding event and one-year celebration event at the unique and trendy Richter Co. on Thursday, April 11th. The celebration will continue at the wine shop with a great line up of tastings Friday (April 12th), 3pm - 7pm and Saturday (April 13th) 1pm - 7pm.
