C-Tech Innovation is Proud to Announce the Launch of the Award Winning Towbag, the Very First Completely Foldable Trailer

Towbag is a lightweight, patented folding trailer. Its unique design allows it to fold away when not in use, therefore taking up minimal storage space. No tools or expertise are required to fold Towbag away. By simply removing several locking pins, Towbag can be folded away in a matter of minutes. Chester, United Kingdom, March 26, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Invented by Pete Lomas Design Engineering Manager at C-Tech Innovation, towbag is British designed and manufactured, lightweight, patented folding trailer. Its unique design allows it to fold away when not in use, therefore taking up minimal storage space. No tools or expertise are required to fold towbag away. By simply removing several locking pins, towbag can be folded away in a matter of minutes. towbag isn’t just a standard trailer, it can be used for many purposes. By the addition of universal roof bars, towbag can be used for transporting bikes, canoes, a roof box – in fact anything that you would normally attach to roof bars on a car.

An idea was born...

"I first came up with the idea nearly four years ago," Pete explains. "I used to own a conventional galvanised steel trailer for general DIY and camping. However, I had very limited storage space for it and had to carry it, end on, down the side of my house. It was such a nuisance that I eventually stopped using it. I then started thinking there must be a better solution. Does anyone sell a fold away trailer? After a fairly exhaustive search, I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I set about designing one myself. However, the main stumbling block I kept coming up against was how to make the solid walls and floor of a trailer enclosure fold down easily.

"The ‘Eureka moment’ came one day when I was cycling home from work. There were a couple of bulk bags of sand being delivered to a neighbour’s house for building work. I realised that such bulk bags were very strong, lightweight, and folded down very small when empty. They are also about the same size as a trailer enclosure. With that in mind, I started designing what would eventually become Towbag – utilising a flexible, lightweight material for the enclosure."

Several years later, and after multiple design modifications and prototypes, Towbag is now gearing up for launch in March. It was exhibited at The Outdoors Trade Show last September, and The Motorhome and Caravan Show in October. The response from the public was overwhelming. It appears many people have had the same storage issues that Pete had.

"Towbag will allow people who could never own a trailer in the past, due to lack of storage, to now enjoy the benefits a trailer brings with it," Pete explained.

Why the need for a collapsible trailer?

According to a recent article in the Guardian, the UK builds the smallest new homes in Europe, significantly smaller than 100 years ago, meaning space for practical items such as trailers is limited.

"We recognised that people now have limited space to store items like trailers, that's why we designed towbag, which is available now for pre-order," Pete Lomas, designer of the towbag, explained, "We are very confident that our towbag will live up to the expectations of our future customers."
