GreaterGood Donates Animal Rescue Trailer to IFAW

Seattle, WA, March 30, 2013 --(PR.com)-- GreaterGood.org executive director Elizabeth Baker announced today a new partnership with the International Fund for Animal Welfare to enable the safe transport of rescued animals out of disaster areas.

A new fully customized thirty-six-foot rescue trailer will enable IFAW rescue teams speedily provide temporary shelter and transportation for rescued animals during such natural disasters such as hurricanes or flooding.

Following Superstorm Sandy, the need for more mobile animal rescue response became evident. IFAW team members frequently reported the need for additional disaster response trucks and trailers. The trailer will be housed at Animal Lifeline in Pennsylvania to allow for easy access to the Eastern seaboard.

“In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, we wanted to enable more flexible response options,” said Baker. “During Sandy, many shelters were hit hard by the storm, and the ability to move animals quickly and safely became a priority.”

When not in use for natural disasters, IFAW will have the trailer to move rescued animals. It can handle everything from kittens to tigers, said Baker.

"Time is such a critical factor for us. No matter what the crisis may be, a hurricane making landfall, a puppy mill seizure or abandoned tigers needing a new home, having the right resources at your disposal makes all the difference," said Shannon Walajtys, IFAW Disaster Manager. "We are tremendously grateful for GreaterGood.org's support and ready to use the new vehicle in our next animal rescue."

Funding for this project was made possible through donations from The Animal Rescue Site.
