SPCA Tampa Bay Accepts a Transfer of 22 Puppies from Mississippi Hoarding Investigation

Largo, FL, March 31, 2013 --(PR.com)-- SPCA Tampa Bay accepted 22 puppies this morning that were seized as part of a hoarding and animal neglect investigation in Stone County, Mississippi.

SPCA worked with The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) to transfer the dogs to its Largo facility this week. More than 117 dogs of various breeds were seized, but the local animal rescue organizations aren’t able to manage that many animals at once. Because the woman accused of hoarding and neglect surrendered the animals to local authorities, HSUS is working with animal shelters throughout the Southeast to get the animals adopted. Most of the dogs are 2-4 month old puppies and will be available for adoption following thorough medical and behavior exams.

Donations to assist with the care of the puppies are accepted on the SPCA web site. Simply mention "MS PUPS" in the comments. (http://ht.ly/jzDIN)
