Filipinas Are Called to Take Charge and Join the "Day of Sisterhood"

Free for women-only event in Dubai invites Filipinas to a day of fun-filled activities dedicated to female empowerment and self-improvement

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, April 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The “Day of Sisterhood” returns on its second year for another special whole day event that provides opportunity for Filipinas to get together in no-holds barred discussions of women’s issues. Organizer Illustrado, a Dubai-based Filipino lifestyle magazine, will again play host to this free for women-only event happening on the 12th of April 2013 at the Almas Tower Ballroom in Jumeirah Lakes Towers.

Being a spin-off from the magazine’s Women of Substance event which is focused on honoring Filipina achievers in the Gulf and thereby inspiring Filipinas to be empowered, “Day of Sisterhood” also pushes for similar values. According to Lalaine Chu-Benitez, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Illustrado, “It is essential for us to continue pushing forward our advocacy of Filipina empowerment. That’s why we look further for new ways where we can help our fellow Filipinas to progress. This “Day of Sisterhood” is yet another means by which we encourage Filipinas to establish ties and ultimately cultivate a ‘women-helping-other-women’ spirit.”

She furthers, “We feel that it is important to celebrate this yearly as a day of bonding and learning to give Filipinas a venue where they can share their issues and solutions freely without being judged, while at the same time giving us the opportunity of superimposing the message of our Pinays Take Charge Pledge (a 10 point list which guides Filipinas on how to take care and protect themselves).”

After its successful initial run last year, which was graced by more than 400 Filipinas who enjoyed a day of further enlightenment and self-improvement, “Day of Sisterhood” expects to witness about 700 guests in this edition. It is also anticipated to be a fun-filled full day event where Filipinas can sit back, relax, while talking about relevant issues and learning different things that would benefit them.

During the whole day affair, there will be discussions on relationships, reproductive health and building self-image. Tips on health and nutrition, career advancement, personal finance and investing, conducted by topic experts are to be expected at the Day of Sisterhood. Other exciting segments are the mini-workshop dedicated to teaching self-defense for women, Aside from these, there will also be mini-workshops on dressing for success, grooming, color analysis and make-up, a mini-bazaars and the Nikon Portrait Shoot Out.

The Day of Sisterhood is complimentary event happening from 9am. In order to guarantee your presence, Filipinas are asked to register to book seats, as space will be limited.
