APICS NYC-LI (www.apicsnyc-li.org), The Association for Operations Management New York City-Long Island Chapter, is proud to announce a collaborative event on April 15, 2013 with its student chapters and local organizations. The event is the first annual “Student-Industry Connection” which aims to “Keep Students On LI.” This Connection event will bring together students and representatives from leading industry in the New York City-Long Island area for a better understanding of who the industry organizations are and what their students have to offer. This networking opportunity is spearheaded by APICS President Dr. Jill O’Sullivan and by APICS NYC/LI Students Chapter Presidents from three Long Island colleges/universities—Bernita McGoldrick, Farmingdale State College, Victoria Ogirri, Hofstra University, and Neeti Sachdev, Stony Brook University.

APICS NYC-LI has been a leader in providing educational material and certifications for its membership and has purposefully created networking by bringing industry and academia together. APICS NYC-LI has been recognized nationally and internationally with the Platinum CBAR Award (Chapter Benchmarking and Reporting).

The “Student-Industry Connection” is an event that will prompt and encourage relationship building by teaming up a student and industry expert for further edification of both parties. Students will walk away with a better understanding of companies in this local vicinity and gain tremendous networking experience. Companies will take away a clearer understanding of the talent of these students from the Farmingdale State College, Hofstra University and Stony Brook APICS Student Chapters.

Organizations are invited to participate, sponsor, advertise and share about internships, mentorships, stewardships or full/part time positions. This is Not a student job fair; however, students must come dressed for success, complete with business cards and a current school ID.
