Powerhouse Growth for Helms Mulliss & Wicker

Charlotte, NC, August 12, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Peter Covington, chairman of Helms Mulliss & Wicker, PLLC (HMW), a law firm specializing in corporate law, finance and business litigation, reports record growth in 2007.

“We have been fortunate enough to share in the growth of our clients during these good economic times. Making sure that we have the resources to provide a fast-paced response to our clients is paramount,” says Covington. “Adding top legal talent and efficient support staff gives HMW an advantage that benefits our clients.”

In April, HMW Executive Director Greg Negus signed a new 11-year lease for its Charlotte office. Under the new lease, the firm will occupy 95,000 square feet, the entire top five floors of 201 North Tryon. This makes HMW the largest non-bank tenant in the building.

"It's not only about accommodating our firm’s growth, but also boosting our efficiency in serving client needs,” says Negus. “Our space design encourages improved integration of our practice groups and creates a better environment for collaboration.”

The Raleigh office’s growth has also been driven by client services needs. This year, the Firm has added eight attorneys, four paralegals and four support staff members. With these recent additions, the office has enjoyed nearly 100 percent staffing growth in 2007, making HMW one of Raleigh’s fastest growing law firms.

“We are constantly looking for top attorney and support staff talent,” says David Paulson, Raleigh office managing member. “We will add two first-year lawyers with exceptional credentials this fall, and we are talking to other legal professionals that may fit well with the firm’s mix.”

Driving this growth are HMW’s clients, which range from Fortune 100 companies and the nation’s largest financial institutions to high-growth and start-up companies.
