Charleston, SC, April 10, 2013 --(PR.com
)-- Attorney Evan Guthrie talked about his experience as a lawyer, the path to becoming an attorney, his experiences going through high school and college, what law school is like and how it differs from high school and college, what the bar exam encompasses, and what the day to day life of a lawyer is really like. Attorney Evan Guthrie answered questions that included what was his most challenging case and client to was going to all of those years of school worth it to become a lawyer, and what kind of car he drove. The Ashley Ridge law education class follows the street law curriculum that teaches students practical aspects of law that apply to everyday life. This was the first time that Mr. Guthrie had the opportunity to speak to students at Ashley Ridge during a regularly scheduled class after speaking to students at the Higher Learning Academy during Saturday programs and for an award ceremony. Ashley Ridge is part of the Dorchester District Two school system and is a new school that has been in existence for less than five years, but is already one of the largest schools in the state by student enrollment. Attorney Guthrie was joined by his law clerk, Kimaya Brown, to bring a student perspective to speak to students and answer questions about college and the law school process. Mr. Guthrie was able to speak to two different classes of law education students as well as a government class and a driver’s education class. Attorney Guthrie spoke about how the legal system and courts interacted with the government and citizens as well as how lawyers and politicians interacted with the government. Attorney Guthrie spoke to the driver’s ed class about how the law interacts with motorists such as traffic tickets, driving under the influence, dealing with the police, and what rights a passenger in a vehicle has. Mr. Guthrie enjoyed being able to speak to a variety of different classes on the same day and contribute to the education of local students. Attorney Guthrie looked forward to visiting Ashley Ridge High again in the future to speak to future classes representing the legal profession in South Carolina and be able to give back to the community.
