Energize 2013 Goes Totally Green with Offsets from Clean Skies Certificates for Education

Clean Skies Certificates will offset event emissions at Energize 2013 using certificates produced from clean energy projects in K-12 schools.

Sandy, UT, April 10, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Utah Energy Commercialization Center and Social Enterprises have selected Environmental Certificate Exchange (ECX) to balance the emissions from the Energize 2013 attendee travel, hotel room accommodations, and supply chain energy use during the summit taking place at Snowbird on April 11-12. ECX will offset natural gas use, paper use, supply chains, water use, and travel—both to and from the conference, for air and ground transportation.

ECX will supply Clean Skies Certificates, a powerful new carbon offset product that enables local schools to capture the full value of their energy efficiency and renewable energy efforts. School Districts across the country face challenges to handle increased costs on tight budgets. ECX’s Clean Skies Certificates are creating new revenue for schools, and helping businesses offset energy and help schools at the same time.

“Electricity is a large part of greenhouse gas emissions, but even after reducing what you can, by conserving energy and buying renewable energy certificates (RECs), there are still more emissions to account for,” said Brent Ivie, CEO of ECX.

Clean Skies Certificates deliver more comprehensive carbon emission reductions than RECs while simultaneously providing financial support for local schools. “Clean Skies Certificates for Education are available to companies and individuals to address offsetting their all of their emissions, including electricity,” added Jacqueline Zielenski, ECX’s COO.

When Stephanie Stettler of Social Enterprises learned about emission offsets that help schools, she wanted to find out more. “I’m fascinated with creative sustainable business strategies, and ECX’s Clean Skies business model is consistent with my passion for creating change for improved sustainability,” she said.
