Timeshare Resale Advertiser Wesley Kogelman to Take Part in Upcoming CARE Discussion Forum

The Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers will be featuring a discussion panel on the timeshare secondary market during its conference next week.

Tampa, FL, April 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- BuyaTimeshare.com CEO Wesley Kogelman will discuss the state of the timeshare resale market as part of an industry panel during the Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers (CARE) conference, scheduled for April 20-23 at the Springmaid Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Kogelman, along with Defender Resorts CEO Ken McKelvey and Jim Kwock of The Timeshare Kahuna, will provide insight during the “Trade-In, Relief or Resales” panel on Monday, April 22 at 10:00am. Heather Guffin, CEO of Alliances Sales and Marketing Solutions, will moderate the panel.

The secondary market has received considerable publicity in recent years, primarily due to the unscrupulous tactics of some companies which claim to be in the resale industry but instead prey on unsuspecting consumers. These companies boost their profits by either claiming to have buyers already waiting to buy an owner’s timeshare or through an unwillingness to market the products on behalf of owners.

Legislation was passed in Florida last year to require resale companies to document their processes by, for instance, requiring signed agreements from owners seeking to advertise their weeks for sale. This legislation resulted in a 57 percent drop in timeshare-related consumer complaints after becoming law. Additional legislation is currently being debated in state legislatures in Florida and Colorado which is aimed at cleaning up the so-called “Relief” practice of owners paying companies to take over ownership of their interval, which can often-times be at the detriment of resort operations.

“I very much look forward to discussing these issues with the CARE membership, as we are all heavily invested in the timeshare market and need to proactively seek ways to build a healthy resale marketplace,” Kogelman said. “Resales is the fastest-growing sector of the industry thanks to the advent of the internet, so it is in everybody’s best interest to seek solutions to these issues.”
