Business Financial "Boot Camp" Will Empower DC Metro Small Business Owners with Financial Strategies to Succeed
The Business Financial Boot Camp is designed to teach small business owners through hands on instruction, the financial skills to successfully manage and grow their business during a four hour intensive presented in easy to understand and implement terms.
“At least four of the top ten reasons for small business failure are finance related, and as part of our community service we’re providing accessible training to our DC Metro area small business owners, particularly targeting women owned businesses,” says Debra Skyy Samuels, Co-founder and Vice President of Sisters in Spirit.
Sessions will include: “Financial Basic Training” to cover the importance of financial organization; basic accounting concepts and how to create a financial system to follow. Session II will focus on “Your Financial Report Card & What it Says About Your Business” to cover a description of financial statements and the different types; the secrets financial statements reveal to banks and investors; and key ratios and what they say about your business. There’s also a bonus session: “How to Create a Simple Budget that will Consistently Grow Your Bottom Line” to cover the definition of a budget and why it is important; how to prepare a twelve month budget; and how to grow your income for an additional twelve months.
Local accountant and financial consultant, Sherrell T. Martin, owner and CEO, of Empower 2 Thrive, LLC, a boutique financial management and business strategy practice in the Washington DC metropolitan area, will facilitate the Boot Camp. Sherrell's mission is to empower entrepreneurs to thrive financially in life and business.
